Building Trust for More Than 70 Years

In 1949, Hoyt C. Butler and J. Edward Stowe founded a CPA firm in Gaston County, NC. Like many businesses of that day, it was built on personal service, professional excellence and a work ethic intensified by the hard times that were a not-so-distant memory. Over the years, others joined the firm including Joe Withers, Steve Davis, Joe Grigg, Bill Drum and Kent Leonhardt. They all left behind a heritage of professionalism, integrity and independence.

Today at Butler & Stowe our values are stronger than ever. We participate in the Peer Review Program mandated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and have received a rating of “pass” with each review (in the financial accounting world, that’s a terrific rating!).

With three partners and a total staff of approximately 20 people, we’ve grown to offer clients a variety of diversified services. Still, we’re small enough to remember our roots and honor them. We care about our clients and their success the same as when we began.
